Gates and Fence Repair

One thing that catches my eye while driving through a neighborhood is the fences and gates in yards. A unique or freshly stained fence or gate can brighten a home’s exterior. Unfortunately, I often see yards with broken fence pickets and dilapidated gates hanging by a thread. With three dogs at home, we’ve had to be creative to keep our pets safe and secure.

When we moved our dogs into the backyard, we only had a three-foot-high chain-link fence; our husky pup is an escape artist, so I knew a taller fence would be required. A few trips to the hardware store, and our six-foot privacy fence was up. Our awesome husky was undeterred, however, and jumped the fence one afternoon, and the next week dug under the fence to escape and explore the neighborhood. So, as desperate dog parents, we explored our options and installed an electric wire on top and low on the privacy fence. Our pup was still curious to explore the neighborhood, but after a shocking escape attempt, she decided the backyard had plenty of adventures to find without having to leave home. After about a week, we were able to turn off the electric wire, and she stayed in the yard ever since; I guess dogs have a good memory when they get a little zap.

Every so often, a fence picket gets loose, or a storm blows through Tulsa and loosens up a part of the fence, so it’s back to the hardware store to get supplies to make the needed repairs to keep our pups secure in the backyard.

Maybe you have been looking at your fence and need a few repairs, a new coat of stain, or that sagging gate straightened up. Reach out and let us know how we can make your outdoor space a relaxing and more functional place to keep you or your pets secure.
